Alpesh Chauhan
Alpesh Chauhan is at the time of this interview Music Director of Birmingham Opera Company, and Associate Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, an orchestra which he has conducted regularly since his debut in 2015. Alpesh has previously enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in Parma, who named him as their Principal Conductor and with whom he has performed and recorded staples of the great symphonic repertoire, including a complete cycle of Brahms’ symphonies. He also held an Assistant Conductor position at the city of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra until 2016.
Alpesh talks about a variety of topics such as his early cello and conducting studies, the importance of playing an instrument, his fellowships and assistant conductor positions, working with orchestras in different cultures and programming as a guest conductor.
